It was with great joy that the Centre of Macedonian Women e.V. officially began its work on 1 December 2025. The launch could hardly have been more fitting: a panel discussion on the topic: “More Than Leadership: The Power of Balance – A Woman Who Leads, Inspires and Creates” It was a special honour for us to discuss this topic with our exceptionally inspiring guest, Dr Anita Angelovska-Bežoska, former Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia. She openly shared with the members of our association her experiences, challenges, and the professional and personal principles that have guided her throughout her many different roles. The conversation ranged from leading the National Bank during periods of global crisis to maintaining balance in family life as a wife and mother of three children. The event was opened by the President of the association, Dr Marija Treneva. She presented the association’s clear vision: to create a community that supports, develops and empowers Macedonian women within German society. Our goal is to create a shared space for ideas, solidarity and mutual encouragement. Macedonian women who are shaping their personal journeys between two cultures should be supported in developing their economic, professional, cultural and emotional potential. The panel discussion was moderated by the Vice President of the association, Dr Irena Bojarovska, who guided the programme with exceptional professionalism. We discussed women’s ability to take responsibility and successfully overcome particularly difficult situations. Other topics included financial literacy, the values we should pass on to future generations, and the conditions required for success – because success does not happen on its own. In this context, the importance of emotional resilience, personal dedication, maintaining integrity, flexibility, continuous learning and staying true to one’s values was also highlighted. Equally important is the support of the people closest to us. Our special thanks go to Ambassador Prof. Ilber Sela and the Macedonian Embassy in Berlin, the Embassy of the Republic of North Macedonia in Germany, for their continuous support.
